Goldman Sachs and Motif have just launched five new ETFs and they’re really well managed. I analyse the ETFs in terms of their risk-weighted returns. Article originally published at Master Investor Magazine April 2019 Issue 49 p. 44-49.

Investors with limited financial knowledge and resources (i.e. time, money and patience) can use ETFs to gain exposure to the whole market or to just a small section of the market.

One thing that is evident is the outperformance of the Motif indices relative to the S&P 500 in the last three years.

While there is still no returns data available for the recently created ETFs, I looked at the indexes they track. Surprisingly, these indexes have been getting an edge over the S&P 500 and I expect the ETFs to follow.
